Meanwhile, this comes barely a week after the release of controversial social media critic, Martins Otse, popularly called Verydarkman who was earlier arrested following allegations of cyberbullying against him.
While the specific details surrounding the allegations against Verydarkman remained undisclosed all through his nine days in police custody, his arrest sparked outcry amongst netizens and several other human right activists who questioned the place of freedom of speech in Nigeria and attributed his arrest to his recent online saga with Bobrisky.
Verydarkman had in one of his recent videos, asked why crossdressers were not being arrested in Nigeria given that it contravenes state laws and called for the arrest of Bobrisky who he says is equally guilty of the crime.
In response to VDM’s advocacy, aggrieved Bobrisky via a social media post reportedly wrote VDM while issuing a stern warning and promising to deal with him.
He wrote: “Now let me lecture that good for-nothing cow called very dark struggling boy. Don’t ever mention my name in ur ug*y life again. Address ur issues but don’t ever mention my name or compare me to anyone. Listen and read dis again me I will deal with you.
“Those people you all look down on are the most strongest and powerful don’t dare me. Those people you said they are sleeping with me will be the ones that will help me and lock u up. Since ur mouth has no Bustop you just put ur mouth in everything that doesn’t involve you it’s fine but don’t involve my name. Dis is the second time you are involving my name in ur video.
“The last one will shock you. Your s*x video are everywhere mine are not anywhere because I don’t live a use*ess life like you do. Na you come find me then again I had to respond.”
Following VDM’s release on Easter Sunday, Omoyele Sowore, the convener of the #RevolutionNow movement who confirmed the release in a post shared via X on Sunday alleged that VDM’s detention was a case of the powerful people making efforts at oppressing others. He wrote:
“Good news on Easter Sunday! @thatverydarkman is now free! Thanks for all your efforts to ensure oppression will not always win! #RevolutionNow.”
