After being the head artist of HKN at the start of his musical career, Davido launched his own record label DMW and now he just announced his new partnership with united masters to launch a new record label.
The news of the new partnership was shared by United masters via their instagram page on Wednesday 18, april 2024 and the group termed their partnership with the artist ‘ a ground breaking collaboration with Davido’ in a press release united masters called their new partnership with the artist, a transformative and ground breaking one for the African entertainment industry , they stated that the partnership will ensure to see that artists in the African musical industry become very influential figures and will take them to a level of unprecedented heights globally.
In Davido’s remarks, the artists stated that he was excited partnering with the united masters in what he termed as an exciting chapter for up coming and already established artists globally. The singer became a latest partner of the united masters after successfully entering a partnership with Sarz academy in 2023.
He rebranded his record label which was formally known as DMW 2.0 to Nine+ which he signed two of his latest artists Morravey and Logos Olori who both appeared on his grammy nominated album ‘timeless’
The singer is to spearhead artist development and A&R for a line up of Nigerian artists, Speaking on it, the founder of united masters, Steve Stoute said ” over the last two years we have proven our commitment to Africa, investing in artists , education and technology, today we are doubling down with this new venture of Davido and the launch of the Nine+ records. We reinforce our mission in becoming a bridge for artists on the continent, together we will identify and develop new artists while supporting them with brand and synch opportunities”
Unitedmasters also partnered with the NBA to forge a a deal that allowed players under them to showcase their work on the different platforms of the NBA in Africa, it could be seen that this initiative did not just expose artists to African audiences but also demonstrates a technological system of building stronger connections. The initiative is located at the NBA Africa headquarters in Lagos.
Davido expressed his excitement in a statement posted on his social media page saying “i am thrilled to announce the launch of a new joint venture between my label, Nine plus and unitedmasters , founded by my good friend Steve Stoute, this collaboration marks a pivotal moment in our journey as we aim to empower artists globally by leveraging unitedmasters revolutionary music distribution platform and Nine plus innovative vision and eye for talent. The singer recently recorded a great feat after he was listed as one of the third Nigerians to headline the Madisson square garden in a sold out concert.
