Rodney Umeh, popularly known as the wisdom man who is popularly known on tiktok for skits becomes a latest member of the Meta’s category of creators of tomorrow, he is popularly known for his red robe that he uses as his signature custom in his videos, he has gained over 977k followers and has gotten a total of 4.3 million views on instagram for his ‘birth certificate’ video.
He played the role of a mother who flips the bed upside down and searches through suitcases, ton of tiny bags before splashing the birth certificate in front of the camera, the content that is very funny and relatable has kept him on the edge of other content creators, and recently meta, the parent company of instagram and facebook has finally come to notice and recognize him and has sport lighted him as one of the creators for it’s creators of tomorrow campaign.
While having an interview with pulse Nigeria, Rodney said said he is grateful for the oipportunity given to him by meta and is really grateful for it ” it’s a huge opportunity for me and i really really appreciate it” he said. Rodney started out as an ordinary skitmaker during the covid lockdown, he started by making regular skits and dance videos with his friends but has over thew years transitioned to a more stable and standard content that evokes nostalgia among his followers, he started that doing this wasn’t easy as he had to scale up and invest more in the scripting aspect of content creation.
” it hasn’t been an easy journey because it required more script writing and shooting than usual” giving a shout out to meta he also stated that ” Meta has made it easier for me by giving me a platform i can use to reach a larger audience, the kind of content i create touches all parts of comedy you know, relatable, dark humor, advanced humor, you name it that’s why they call me wisdom man”
But he said he preferred instagram reels because it connects him to a wider audience and keeps him abreast of updated latest trends and policies on the app “instagram is one of my primary entertainment sources, so you are definitely going to see me always scrolling on the app almost everytime”
According to Rodney, he has been able to build relationships on the app for collaborative purposes ” Meta has helped me make a lot of friends with my fellow content creators, especially those in my field and i am currently in talks with some of them regarding collaboration.
He recently collaborated with Victor Kolawale Ayodele and Ibezim Emeka Claver in a video and he said the it turned out nice working with the two ” it was a great experience and the audience loved it and everybody loved it, there a number of great projects coming out and i recently collaborated with another creator” he added
Rodney pointed out that being a young influencer in Nigeria hasn’t been easy, it has both positive and negative effects.
