Nigerian singer, Tems recently opened up on what fans should be expecting from her debut album that is coming up ‘born in the wild’ she describes the art work as a full documentation of her life experiences.
The singer who recently dropped a single titled ‘love me jeje’ on the 26th of April 2024, had stated that her debut album carries all the experiences and lessons that has shaped her into who she currently is.
She said ” ‘Born in the wild’ is actually about my journey, its about my experiences as me, and the experiences i’ve had so far. And it really felt like the life i lived before, the life i was accustomed to felt like wilderness, i was raised in Lagos and that’s part of me but it is not really about the place, it’s more about the state of being, it was a wilderness in the environment in the environment i lived in and there were so many lessons i learned to come and be this person now. so that’s basically what ‘born in the wild’ is about”
She further revealed that she once had to go through a healing process, self discovery and unlearning to make an album that centers around her life.
“I have had to step back a bit to make sure or to check in with myself that i’m being true also find just find healing from all of the trauma. Everything i experienced before tems, i think i had to unlearn a lot of things and this is just a new way of expressing myself while still centering who i am in it” Ahead of the release of the debut album, the singer had released three hit songs with the latest being “love me jeje’ which is a sample of the 90s classic song of Seyi Sodimu, which carries the same title.
Tho the specific date for the album release has not been fixed,the singer had once revealed the album will be coming up in May and also the traqcklist for the album has not yet be released. Tems has featured on major songs with well known artist both in Nigeria and in the international scenes although uncertain of the type of artist that might be featured on her album, there are speculations that she would be featuring some international artists too.
The ‘Born in the wild’ album is set to to be released six years after the singer released her ‘Mr Rebel’ album in 2018 and the album carried latest songs that gave the artist fame and took her to international stardom. The ‘ Mr Rebel’ album opened doors for her to collaborate with top artists like Drake, Future, Wizkid and also she has written for Rihanna and Beyonce.
