Adanma Luke, a movie producer and actress who was in charge of the movie that led to the death of Nollywood actor, Junior Pope and others has refuted claims of abandoning the late actor’s family and also the families of other crew members who died in the catastrophe
The producer has been accused of ignoring and neglecting their need for assistance in providing funds for burial activities and welfare, but coming out to react to such claims on Wednesday, she posted on her instagram page saying, she has been working together with her team to ensure that each victim’s corpse be returned back to their families for proper burial and has also being helping the police in carrying out their investigations concerning the case.
She wrote ” it has become very necessary for me to make a statement because of the false allegations being made against me since the tragic loss of Junior Pope, Abigail Precious, Friday and Olanti, my team and i have been actively collaborating with the families to provide all necessary funds as requested from the grave diggers to the divers and fuel for the police officers involved in the search of the bodies”
” These also includes, expenses for caskets, ambulances and additional funds to cover up other related costs, each crew member’s family received agreed amounts and some decided to have their loved ones buried by the water side as they believe that those who die by drowning should be laid to rest near water, this ritual involved invoking the spirit into a casket lined with a plantain leaf, which was then sent to the family for burial, i have video evidence of their agreement to these arrangements”
“Additionally, my team and i arranged the departure of the ambulance from Asaba to the homes of Precious and Friday, as a result of this my team and i will be sharing details and video and video proof of everything that has happened since the tragedy, in this time of huge loss and mourning for these families, these allegations that i have not taken any action are complete lies, my team and i remain in communication with the police and families who have lost their beloved ones.”
The other side of life was a movie project which was being produced by Adanma Luke, the project which was promising to be a good one took a twist when some of the crew members drowned in the river Niger while returning from a scene location and unfortunately popular nollywood actor was a victim of the catastrophe.
Junior Pope was pronounced dead on the 10th April after attempts of reviving him seemed not to yield good results. the actor alongside the make up artist, Abigail Frederick , the production crew and other actors all drowned in the river Anam. Though there are two people who were on the boat but survived the incident name TC virus and Classic Okoli, and since then different allegations have been laid on the producer, who has been mute all this time but has decided to come out clearing herself.
