Nigerian author and podcaster Kalu Ajah, has said arresting Bobrisky is one of the least things Nigerians should be worried about at the moment.
Ajah made this known via a post on his personal account on popular social media platform X formerly known as Twitter.
According to him, Nigeria has more problems that deserved more attention than going after Bobrisky and making a big deal out of it.
The famous business and finance coach while sharing a picture of Bobrisky on his wall wrote, “Nigeria’s got 99 problems and this ain’t one.”
Reacting to his opinion, netizens quickly delved into the comments section to also air their thoughts on the matter which is currently trending across social borders.
A netizen identified as Eze Arinze on X querrried Ajah when he wrote, “your sudden and unbridled advocacy for Bob is what I don’t understand sir. Bob is not a good example for our culture and our society.”
Another user identified as God Son asked: “Does the government tell you arresting him has stopped them from working on the economy? Na central bank or ministry of finance arrest ham? Oga rest abeg and let’s hear word. Did you read why he was arrested? Dude was involved in money laundering and you feel he shouldn’t be questioned? What a way to want a better Nigeria. Hypocrites. Mtchew.”
Babajide Blunt while replying to God Son’s comment also criticised Ajah’s view arguing that irrespective of prevailing economic situations, the various arms of government carryout their respective duties.
He wrote: “We sometimes criticise things blindly forgetting that there are different arms of government responsible for different things and they carry out their responsibilities regardless of the prevailing socioeconomic realities of the country.”
On their part, Humanity First held that “Yes, this ain’t one of our problems but BOB must be stopped because if he’s not tamed his way of life will cause a major socio cultural problem.” LadiAJALA also agreed to this submission extending a word of appreciation to Humanity First and stating that at least, efforts being made would be in the books of record.
The netizen wrote: “Thanks. Even if they let him off the hook this minute. It would have been established that the Federal Government of Nigeria only recognizes BOB as a MAN and not a woman. The reason y he spent his detention in a male cell. This is very necessary.”
Recall that Bobrisky, a popular Nigerian cross dresser and social media influencer originally known as Okuneye Idris Olarenwaju was recently arrested by men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC over claims of currency mutilation and abuse of the Naira.
According to reports, the anti-graft agency was working with reference to a recent video of the popular crossdresser and self-acclaimed “mummy of Lagos” spraying bundles of cash and malhandling the Nigerian currency.
The EFCC maintains that it is a punishable offence by law to misuse or malhandle the Nigerian currency as this is in line with the provisions of the law, specifically Section 21 of the CBN Act which makes it a crime to tamper with or deface naira notes.
