Speaking on the artists he has enjoyed working with, Davido said he had enjoyed working with Chris Brown, Kizz Daniel and Zlatan, Since the start of his musical career, Davido has collaborated with different artists from different genres of music and also from different parts of the world but has listed the fore mentioned artists as his favorite people to ever collaborate with.
Chris Brown and Davido has released a lot of hit songs together over the years withe their first major collaboration on the song ‘blow my mind’ both artists has released over 5 songs together with the latest being ‘hmmm’ from from Chris Brown’s deluxe album ’11:11′ Davido is also a recognized singer on Brown’s smash hit ‘under the influence’.
Kizz Daniel who is one of Afrobeats biggest sensation at the moment was also mentioned by the artist, there are also speculations of the two releasing a joint project together just like Ruger and BNXN, The duo first collaborated on Kizz Daniel’s first hit song ‘woju’ and has since then had back to back collaborations over the years. their latest collaboration which is a remix of Kizz Daniel’s ‘Twe Twe’ is a smash hit currently.
Street pop artist, Zlatan has also collaborated with Davido on several projects and the singer has listed zlatan to be one of his favorite collaborations. the two have been friends since the start of Zlatan’s musical career, hence Zlatan’s lyrics on his song with Falz ‘oganigwe’ where he boosted of not just being mere friends with the singer.
When asked by the host what he feels about afrobeats and the originality of the genre, Davido said, the genre was originated by Fela who is regarded as the father of afrobeats, the singer also gave credit to artists such as D’banj, 2baba and the 2000s boy musical duo Styl plus, he further went on to say the first place to accept afrobeats asides Africa was the UK. He said ‘ Fela started afrobeats and the song is related to Fela’s music but now if an artist sings an RnB song, sounding like like any other RnB singer from other parts of the world, the artist should be referred to as an RnB artist, If a Nigerian rapper raps so well , he should be regarded as a rapper and not as an afrobeat artist”
