Former US president, Donald Trump has demanded an apology form the incumbent president Joe Biden, over his recent declaration of Easter Sunday as a “trans day of visibility.”
According to the former US president who has never been a supporter of the LGBTQ community, Biden ought to tender an apology for making such an outrageous declaration which he said is demeaning to the christian community.
Recall that Biden who has been a strong support to the queer community sparked anger over the week when he declared March 31st ‘the transgender day of visibility’ which happened to be this year’s Easter Sunday.
The declaration read, “on Transgender day of visibility, we honor the extraordinary courage and contributions of the trans Americans and reaffirm our nations commitment to forming a more perfect union-where all people are created equal and treated equally through out their lives.”
Reacting to this statement, the former US president Donald Trump called for an immediate apology from Biden to the entire christian and catholic community.
Trump campaign stated that this declaration of one of the current president’s numerous ways of looking down on Christians and their faith.
Other prominent politicians and members of the US showed their disappointment over the declaration of Easter being the transgender day of visibility as Easter is believed to be the most solemn and peaceful christian holiday.
Trump’s eldest son wrote on X saying “this is the left’s new religion. They want people to worshiping the trans flag instead of God, they must be stopped.”
House speaker, Mike Johnson posted on X saying “the Biden white house has betrayed the central tenet of Easter-which is the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” banning sacred truth and tradition- while at the same time proclaiming Easter Sunday as ‘trans day of visibility’ is outrageous and abhorent, the American people are taking note.”
Trump’s press national secretary, Karoline Leavitt also challenged the declaration saying it is appalling and insulting. She stated that the president’s declaration is one of his administration’s numerous long years assault on the christian community. She said,
“We call on the Biden’s failing campaign and the white house to issue an apology to the millions of Christians and Catholics across America who believes and sees tomorrow as the for one celebration which is the day for the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”
It was also reported that the president had banned the religious egg designs which has been the white house Easter tradition.
Speaking on this same issue, Tennessee Republican representative Diana Harshbarg said the announcement was intentional and she termed it a ‘blatant disregard.’
Responding to these, a representative of the white house issued a statement saying the uproar over the trans day visibility being in coincidence with the Easter Sunday is divisive. He backed up this statement saying president Biden is a devout who catholic who attends mass and celebrates the Easter holiday with his family and stands for bringing people together, but sadly it is politicians who are seeking to divide and weaken America with cruel, hateful and dishonest rhetoric.
“President Biden will never abuse his faith for political purposes or for profit.” Bates, the representative of the white house said.
Amidst all of the uproar, some liberal churches in America celebrated the trans visibility day on Easter this year.
