Many people, including his supporters, are concerned about the circumstances surrounding his death. Learn about King Von’s identity and the circumstances surrounding his premature passing.
Who was King Von?
On November 6, 2020, a shooting outside an Atlanta club claimed the lives of three persons, including King Von, whose real name is Dayvon Daquan Bennett. He was a member of the Black Disciples gang and a mobster from Chicago, Illinois. For allegedly planning and carrying out killings that claimed the lives of Malcolm Stuckey and others, he was arrested multiple times.
King Von’s Early Life and Education
King Von was born on August 9, 1994, in Chicago, Illinois, into the family of Natasha “Taesha” Chambers and Walter “Silk” Bennett. King Von was raised mostly by his mother and his nine siblings because his father was arrested on multiple occasions when he was growing up.
King Von attended the south side of Chicago’s Hyde Park Academy. He was inspired to create drill music by Chicago rapper G Herbo, whom he met at school. He played on the varsity baseball team and was heavily involved in athletics during his high school years. Because of his disobedient and reckless actions, he ran afoul of the law multiple times and was imprisoned at the age of sixteen. He received his GED at a juvenile correctional facility as a result. He did, however, enlist at South Suburban College in Holland, Illinois, since he was determined to continue his studies.
However, it wasn’t the end of his troubles since in 2014, after he shot college student Malcolm Stuckey, he was arrested once more on a first-degree murder accusation. After being released and found not guilty, King Von chose to focus all of his energy on his music career because he was unable to finish his studies.
King Von’s Career
King Von developed an early interest in music. When he was in his early teens, he began performing rap songs with his pals. But he didn’t take his music career seriously until he was released from prison, following his acquittal on murder charges. Rapper Lil Durk of Chicago noticed his talent and signed him to his record labels.
Von’s breakthrough song, Crazy Story, was released shortly after getting signed. He moved to Atlanta as his music career took off, and there he worked on his first mixtape, Grandson Vol. 1. Lil Durk and King Von worked together on a number of the songs on his first mix tape, which was a huge hit, peaking at No. 75 on the Billboard 200. He began working on a second project, Levon James, shortly after the first mixtape, and it was released in 2019.
King began recording Welcome to O’Block, his debut album, which was made available in October 2020. Regretfully, he passed away a few days after it was published, making it his final project while still alive. He had, however, been working on a number of other tunes that would not be released before his tragic death. The most of them were later made available as part of his (posthumous) CD, which included the 2022 release of “What It Means to Be King.”
