The royal couple have been confirmed to visit Nigeria next month, May, Where prince Harry intends to attend his invictus games service at the Saint Paul’s cathedral.
While it has not yet been revealed if the family will be visiting Nigeria with their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, but it is certain Meghan will be alongside her husband as he pays a visit to the country. It has been noted that the couple’s visit to the country is as a result of the chief of staff’s invitation, the highest ranking army official in Nigeria, it has been gathered the chief of army staff and Prince Harry met at the invictus games which took place in Dusseldorf last year, September.
During their visit to the country, the Duke and Duchess will pay courtesy visits to to a lot of organizations, with exact details made at a later date. The surprise visit is gathered to be a result of the Chief of Staff’s invitation and apparently everyone is excited about their upcoming visit, it has also been gathered that, during the invictus games in september, Meghan quite bonded with the Nigerian team, who even gave her a Nigerian name.
The Duchess revealed on her podcasts that she is 43% Nigerian and hence her affiliation with the country, talking with Ziwe, a popular celebrity host, Meghan said ” i just had my genealogy done a couple of years ago and i am forty three percent Nigerian, i am going to start to dig deeper into all this because anybody that i have told, especially Nigerian women, women are like ‘what’.
More details of the prince’s visit to Nigeria were revealed on Sunday and his schedule was also discussed in London, in a post made by the invictus games ‘s official instagram page, it has also been revealed that Hollywood actor Damian Lewis will also be attending the thanksgiving service to celebrate the games’s 10 years anniversary. Sharing a throw back picture of Prince Harry when he was 39, cheering a competitor, the invictus games wrote ” The invictus games foundation will celebrate 10 years of changing lives and saving lives with a service of thanksgiving at St paul’s cathedral on the 8th May. We will be joined by our patron , Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, actor Damian Lewis and members of the worldwide invictus games to mark the occasion”
An official statement was also released and it revealed that the Duke would give a reading and Damian Lewis, popularly known for his role in ‘Homeland’ and ‘Band of Brothers’ will recite the poem ‘Invictus’ also all representatives of the invictus games would be present at the thanksgiving, participating nations, including members of the wounded, injured and sick service personnel and the entire veteran community.
Also members of the community, supporters and beneficiaries have already been selected to give readings as part of their participation at the thanksgiving service, led by the very Reverend Andrew Tremlett, the Dean of saint paul’s cathedral, and the Nigerian chief of staff will be very much in attendance too.
